The Migrant Media Lab – our signature project - aims to strengthen migrant voices by building practical media skills and supporting migrants’ participation in the public debate.
The Migrant Media Lab provides group training and one-to-one mentoring sessions led by volunteer journalists and media experts. Topics range from using social media, producing videos, writing articles and blog posts, to practising interview skills.
Participants develop their media skills leading to the production of media outputs in mainstream media as well as on social media platforms.
As part of the Migrant Media Lab project, we also organise discussions on issues of concern to our members, share information about current policy developments and further opportunities for public engagement, to ensure that our media work always ties into the wider context of the migration debate in the UK.
If you are interested in getting involved with the Migrant Media Lab, either as a participant, or as a volunteer, please get in touch with us.
The Migrant Media Lab project was funded by Comic Relief in London and Birmingham from 2014-2017 and by the Allen Lane Foundation in Glasgow in 2015. We are currently seeking funding to continue the project, but in the meantime are offering ad hoc media training and mentoring whenever possible.
