Migrant Voice - Independent tells story of MV member betrayed by Home Office

On Sunday 1 September, the Independent published a story about Muddasar Hussain, an MV member who has been stuck in limbo for seven years after becoming a victim of a fraud, helping the Home Office with their investigation, then denied the right to stay in the UK.

Speaking to May Bulman about the experience of losing his status, Muddasar said: “I was completely out of my mind. I was someone who had lost everything. The aim of my life, my parents’ dreams, everything was ruined. I couldn’t think of anything else."

“I cannot understand what has happened and how this can happen to me, I was genuine, I am genuine and I will be genuine throughout my life," he said. "I have never submitted any false document and I cannot think about ever doing that.

“This refusal has ruined my life and career and the reflection of this disappointment will remain with me forever."
