Joint op-ed with Amnesty UK
On 14 May, a joint Migrant Voice-Amnesty UK op-ed was published on Politics, calling on the Government to ensure that everyone is able to access their basic needs during the Covid-19 pandemic - financial support so people can feed themselves and their families, safe accommodation, and access to vital healthcare - regardless of immigration status.
"None of the above will be easy," wrote MV Director Nazek Ramadan and Amnesty UK Director Kate Allen. "The immigration system has been very effective at isolating people and making them fearful of government and public services for many decades. But right now there is a sense of urgency that has not been felt in a lifetime - and postponing action any longer could prove catastrophic."
