Migrant Voice - MV member facilitates story in The National

On 4 June 2020, The National published a story about the human cost of the UK's proposed new quarantine measures, interviewing Andrea Nogales about her difficult decision of whether to visit her family in Spain and risk losing her job in the UK or delay her family visit again. This story was pitched and the interview facilitated by Ciaran McMurray, Migrant Voice member and volunteer.

“It’s the longest period I’ve spent away from them, so it has been very difficult, especially for my grandmother who is 93 years old and who I normally see almost every day," Andrea said.

MV Director Nazek Ramadan also offered a comment, concluding, “The quarantine measures may be necessary to help prevent the further spread of the virus, but our policymakers need to be aware of all the implications, not just the financial ones, and actively seeking solutions that can help people like Andrea to be with her family again soon.”
