On 28 February, Birmingham Mail covered the news that MV member Lewin William's appeal to stay in the UK has been refused by the Home Office.
Lewin, 74, is battling cancer and won't be able to afford medical treatment if he is deported to Jamaica. A MV petition calling for the Home Office to let him stay has received nearly 140,000 signatures.
Migrant Voice's Birmingham Network Worker Salman Mirza told the Birmingham Mail: "We have tried to get the Home Office to reconsider their decision sadly they think it's reasonable for a 74 year old to find thousands of dollars to pay for life saving cancer treatment who has made a life for himself here in the UK for the last 18 years. I am at a complete loss how they can feel this is acceptable."
