On 15 May, Metro published an article by one of MV's members, writing about his struggles during Covid-19. He is one of the international students who was wrongly accused of cheating on an English test by the Government in 2014 and he has been fighting to clear his name and restart his life since then.
He wrote the piece in support of Amnesty UK and MV's joint call for the Government to make sure everyone can access their basic needs during the pandemic.
"Since losing the little income I had, I couldn’t afford to pay rent," he wrote. "In March, with no notice, my landlord kicked me out and I came home to find my belongings scattered outside on the street at midnight – suddenly, I was homeless.
"Thankfully I was offered a temporary room by a woman I had met through the temple. But her house is crowded and I long to have my own place to call home – somewhere I can be safe and secure during this crisis, and beyond."
