On 9 February, BBC’s website featured the story of how a BBC Newsnight investigation, which aired that evening, has revealed new evidence that is a huge boost for our #MyFutureBack campaign.
The investigation has found evidence that the data used by the Home Office to remove thousands of students from the UK based on allegations of cheating was seriously flawed. It further questions why the Home Office continued taking actions against the students knowing there were issues with the evidence.
Two MV members, Raja Noman Hussain (Nomi) and Wahidur Rahman, were interviewed for the article.
The article explains how Nomi “managed to halt his deportation and was released after 125 days. But like others who protested their innocence, he was banned from working, studying or using the NHS.”
Wahidur said: “They [the Home Office] should hang their heads in shame for not apologising, not just to me but all the other innocent students”
Nazek Ramadan, director of the charity Migrant Voice was also quoted in the article.
