MV's Bashir and Nas speak to I Am Birmingham
On 17 August, I Am Birmingham published an article featuring MV's members Nas Popalzai and Bashir Ahmadzai on the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
"I have lost my friends and family; I’m heartbroken to be honest," said Nas, who was granted refugee status in 2019.
Bashir, who is still fighting to get refugee status, told I Am Birmingham: "I was 13 years old when I escaped for my life, because the Taliban wanted to recruit me.
"I didn’t want to become a child soldier and fight for them."
MV director Nazek Ramadan was also quoted in the article, alongside MV's Birmingham Network Worker Salman Mirza.
