Nazek Ramadan comments on migration statistics in The National

Immigration figures published at the end of November 2018 showed that the number of people from European Union countries arriving in the UK had dropped to its lowest level in almost six years, which many politicians and commentators attributed to the UK's impending departure from the EU.

Migrant Voice Director, Nazek Ramadan, was quoted in an article for Scottish newspaper The National.

“Faced with uncertainty and feeling no longer welcome, many EU nationals are choosing to leave," she said. "That may be a victory for those who want lower migration levels, but it’s a huge loss for our culture, our society, our economy and for a country that was built on immigration.

“Setting an arbitrary net migration target does not work, fails to take real people and real lives into account, and has a divisive impact on our society.”
