Statement on "Anti-Refugee Bill" quoted in Middle East Monitor

On 7 March, our statement in response to the new Anti-Refugee Bill appeared in the Middle East Monitor.

"This is cruel, inhumane, illegal under the international law," our director Nazek Ramadan said in the statement.

The article also quoted Steve Valdez-Symonds, Refugee and Migrant Rights Programs Director at Amnesty International UK, who said: "If government forces law through Parliament to make it 'illegal' under UK law to seek asylum, that won't make seeking asylum any less legitimate. It would, however, seriously rob UK law of legitimacy. Not to mention making it unworkable, harmful, dangerous."
