Making headlines: Getting migrant voices into the media
The “Making headlines” toolkit developed out of the first phase of Migrant Voice’s Meet a Migrant project, which brought together migrants and journalists in face-to-face meetings and led to more than 150 high-profile media appearances.
We are now using this toolkit – based on our learning from that work – to further develop the skills and confidence of migrants to speak out in the media, challenge institutional media culture, and seek to influence the media agenda.
Through mentoring of individual migrant activists and sessions for representatives of migrant/refugee community groups and organisations, we’re using the toolkit to share our expertise on working with migrants and the media.
