With a snap general election hitting us by surprise, many European nationals in Britain are concerned and confused.
So far the rights of EU nationals have not been guaranteed, xenophobic rhetoric and intolerance is on the rise, and people face unanswered questions about their futures.
With six weeks to go it’s vital to make our voices heard, and to ensure that whoever is in Downing Street on June 8th treats migrants’ issues seriously and with respect.
We are having a roundtable discussion involving a diverse group of Europeans, to discuss our thoughts, feelings and hopes for the future, and how we can work with each other and with different communities to campaign for fair, decent treatment. We will discuss what concrete things migrants and their supporters can call for from politicians over the next six weeks.
We have invited a selection of journalists to attend and watch the discussion in order to understand the issues facing Europeans as the election approaches, and build closer links with the press.
