 Migrant Voice - Glasgow Media Lab

On Tuesday 19 May, 3-5.30pm, Migrant Voice is organising a free Media Lab training workshop online. The programme will include two sessions led by media professionals.

Sessions include:

Structure and edit your videos to strengthen the message: In this workshop, we will look at the practical steps needed to begin editing a short film or video clip. We will also discuss the theory behind the choices you can make as an editor.

How to make a photo reportage with your smartphone: In this workshop you will learn the key rules to tell a compelling story through pictures. You will also learn how to make the most of your smartphone, to take better looking photos. 

Scots and new Scots from all over the world - asylum seekers, refugees, and other migrants living in Scotland - join us online to learn media skills that will make your voices heard.

Time: 3pm – 5:30pm

 

Trainers:

Giulia Candussi is a professional photojournalist and documentary filmmaker, with a strong background in international relations and human rights. In the past 10 years she covered the Brexit drama from London and Scotland, the migrant crisis from the border between Slovenia and Italy and the zika virus from the slums in the north of Argentina just to name a few. She is originally from the north-east of Italy and is now based in Scotland. For more info visit www.giuliacandussi.com 

Jarvis Gray is a documentary filmmaker, freelance editor and colourist. His recent projects include 'Our Fathers’ Sea’ which was awarded FILM DÙTHCHAIS AS FHEÀRR at FilmG 2019. His creative practice revolves around teaching people the practical skills they need to tell their own stories.
