In this series of Media Labs, we will explore creative uses of photography, drama and writing. We will explore the power of the arts to express our messages and produce a series of images and writing to showcase on our platforms.
Join our Media Lab on Wednesday 12 July, 3.00-7.00pm, at Migrant Voice, 200A Pentonville Road, London N1 9JP.
Pop by for just one session or stay for the afternoon - it's your choice.
Session 1 • Messages of welcome - discussion and photography follow up session, by Anne Stoltenberg and Ismail Moussa • 3.15 - 4.45 pm
We will discuss ways of creating a welcome environment for migrants and explore how photography can be used to express our ideas and experiences of Welcome.
We will share plans for our project to use photography and other creative tools to create messages of welcome, an alternative to the hostile rhetoric on migration.
Although this is a follow up session to our June 1 Media Lab on photography, it is not necessary to have attended the first session.
Session 2 • Drama as a tool to express Welcome, by The Compass Collective • 5 - 7 pm
The Compass Collective will run a workshop to explore how we can use drama to explore the idea of 'welcome'.
We will look at stories of welcome, acts of welcome that we have received and given to others and at the welcome we would like to receive.
All English language levels are welcome, boost your confidence, have fun.
The Compass Collective is an arts charity that supports young refugees and asylum seekers to build resilience and integrate into the UK.
