Migrant Voice - Migrant communities in the media: telling our own stories-Birmingham

Please join us on Thursday March 22th from 11am – 2pm for a working lunch to learn more about the work we do at Migrant Voice and to discuss how we can work with you to get migrant and refugee communities’ issues covered in the media.

This is very important at a time where we’re facing increasing challenges as migrant and refugee communities: from the hostile environment to Brexit, while migrant voices are still unheard in 85-90% of stories covering migration.

This working lunch is an opportunity for us to share with you what Migrant Voice does, some of our learning from recent work with the media, and to explore with you what are the issues migrant and refugee communities in the West Midlands want to bring to the public attention and in the media.

Come along to find out what we can offer in terms of media training, contacts with journalists, etc., and to create a plan together to bring prominence to our communities’ issues so we can take a lead in the conversation about migration.

This invitation is only sent to a selected number of organisations and is open to up to two representatives per organisation. Some of you may already have been involved in our Birmingham network over the past eight years, but we feel it is time we meet again to explore how we can step up our efforts in order to face the current challenges.

The working lunch will take place on Thursday March 22th from 11am – 2pm, at Unison, 46 The Priory Queensway, Birmingham B4 7LR
