Migrant Voice held a network meeting on March 30th focused on the situation for EU migrants. The meeting was hosted at the University of Westminster.
The meeting heard the experiences of EU migrants, looked at the situation after the triggering of Article 50, offered practical advice regarding the permanent residency application process, looked at what actions can be taken to fight for EU migrants rights, and how we can build support for migrants rights more broadly.
Guest speaker: Barrister Colin Yeo, who specialises in immigration law and runs the blog freemovement.org.uk. Colin Yeo spoke about his guide for EU nationals on the permanent residency process, offered some practical advice and answered questions from the meeting.
Guest speaker: Samia Badani, from New Europeans, informed us of the work of New Euopeans and their latest activities and the work we can get involved in.
Guest speakers: Monique Hawkins and Gudrun Parasie from the3million updated us on their meeting with Michel Barnier (European Chief negotiator for Brexit), to advocate for the rights of EU migrants and the latest from the3million and how we can get involved.
We will also gathered evidence at the meeting to feed into the ongoing inquiry of the Committee on Exiting the EU.
