As part of the Great Get Together and in the spirit of sharing in the ‘Common Goal’; Migrant Voice will be holding a friendly migrant/refugee/asylum seekers football match in collaboration with Show Racism the Red Card on Sunday the 18th of June at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stratford, London between 11:00 – 4:00pm.
The sporting event aims to bring together a footballing community with migrants and refugees from all backgrounds to showcase the power of sport in bringing people together getting people talking.
The day’s activities will open with a brief reception before kick-off, where we would hear a few inspirational stories of integration/ communities coming together.
Subsequently, a series of 5-a-side matches will follow throughout the afternoon, guided by professional footballers and coaches from Show Racism the Red Card and West Ham Foundation.
We are looking for migrants/refugees/ asylum seekers, who are eager to play a game of football and talk to the media, (TV, print and radio) about their journey to the UK or talk about work they are doing or have done in their communities, and talk about the role of football in integration.
The invitation is also open to anyone who wants to come and support and cheer everyone on for the day.
