Migrant Voice and MiFriendly Cities are hosting a special online Media Lab training session on Tuesday 30 June 2020.
Rakeem Omar Hyatt: Rakeem is a BBC presenter, a journalist for Birmingham Mail and a documentary filmmaker.
Having worked with BBC One and BBC Three, he’s currently a presenter on BBC WM, discussing the most impacting stories across the West Midlands.
As a Channel 4 Investigative Journalism alumnus, he is passionate about sharing the stories of those from underrepresented communities.
10:45am - 11:00am: Zoom connections, welcome and introductions
11:00 am - 12:00 pm: Session 1 – Community journalism skills with Rakeem Hyatt (introduction and background, discussion representation, basic skills and tips, activity set for return after lunch)
12:00pm - 1:00pm: LUNCH BREAK
1.00pm - 1.50pm: Session 2 - Refresher, revisit task set prior to lunch, practical interactive activity to help the group write a basic community article as a group
1.50pm - 2.00pm: SHORT BREAK
2.00pm - 2.30pm: - Q&A, Wind down, finishing off projects, evaluation, announcements.
