Migrant Voice - Making music across borders: A photo essay

Alena Bulatetskaya and Huixin Hu are two brilliant young musicians at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, in Glasgow. Alena moved to Scotland from Rostov-on-Don, a city in southern Russia, while Huixin Hu came to Glasgow from China. In their time together at the Royal Conservatoire they have formed a bond - through music and through friendship. In May they performed together at the University of Glasgow in a concert to raise money for Cancer Research. Just a few weeks later, Alena gave her first solo concert at the Royal Conservatoire.

Yuliya Chystaya is a Migrant Voice member and volunteer from Belarus who has built a life in Scotland, studying and working.

This photo essay explores the coming together of three women from three different parts of the world, finding some common ground and means of expression through music and the visual arts.
