The aim of our ‘Many Faces, One City’ project was to celebrate the contribution of migrants to life in Birmingham in order to promote dialogue and a greater sense of community cohesion. The project brought together migrant and host community participants and equipped them with the skills and confidence to tell positive stories of migration to the wider public.
The project, which was funded by Awards for All England, ran a series of training sessions in 2015 to enable participants to tell positive stories of migration. Training covered writing articles, conducting interviews, taking photos, making videos, and using social media platforms.
Participants put their skills into practice to produce ten stories of migrants from different parts of the world, living in different parts of Birmingham. The stories were launched at a public event in Birmingham as well as shared online.
