BirminghamLive covers exhibition featuring MV members

On 25 March, BirminghamLive covered an exhibition at Ikon Gallery, featuring seventeen portraits of Migrant Voice members taken by the renowned photographer Vanley Burke. The exhibition is a collaboration between Ikon Gallery, Migrant Voice and Birmingham University.

The article featured an interview with Burke, who explained how the exhibition was put together.

"We had a chance to meet people beforehand and to choose the area where to take the photographs - most of them were photographed in their own homes," he told the publication.

Burke added: "We, the British, are not very inclusive, we're not very good at welcoming neighbours.

"Consequently new migrants don't really engage with the wider community. I think they would like to. Some of them struggle on that front."

BirminghamLive published a second article on the exhibition, also on 25 March, including photographs of Migrant Voice director Nazek Ramadan and some of the charity's members featured in the exhibition.

The A Gift to Birmingham exhibition will run until 3 April and is free to attend.

The showcase is in the Events Room on the second floor of Ikon Gallery, 1 Oozells St, Birmingham, B1 2HS. The gallery is open 11am-5pm Tuesday-Sunday.
