On 27 October, Migrant Voice member Nas Popalzai was quoted in Birmingham Live as he responded to the appointment of Suella Braverman as Home Secretary.
He said that the Home Secretary's policies would leave asylum seekers like him 'living in fear.'
"I escaped Afghanistan as a child after seeing family members killed by the Taliban. I now work with local refugees from my home country so they can settle into the UK safely and contribute to society like I do.
"Suella is using right-wing tactics to demonise people like me and migrants from all over the world. She's desperate to deport people but her 'dreams' are other people's nightmares."
Salman Mirza, Migrant Voice Birmingham Network Worker, told Birmingham Live the appointment was 'outrageous'.
The article also quoted our statement in response to the appointment as well as Right to Remain director Eiri Ohtani.
