Migrant Voice Director quoted in Morning Star on Nationality and Borders Act
Migrant Voice director Nazek Ramadan was quoted in the Morning Star about the Nationality and Borders Act which came into effect on June 27, 2022.
Nazek condemned the new Act, which criminalises asylum seekers who make their own way to the UK, saying: "“The Nationality and Borders Act effectively ends the UK’s participation in the United Nations Refugee Convention, moving Britain away from protecting refugees to deterring them. The new bleak reality for people fleeing wars and persecution and turning to us for protection is continuous punishment, which amounts to further persecution.”
