On 24 October, one day after 39 migrants were tragically found dead in a lorry container in Essex, Migrant Voice facilitated an interview with Serwan, an Iraqi man who fled his country in the early 2000s, walking and travelling in lorries across Europe to arrive in the UK.
He spoke to ITV London's Ria Chatterjee.
"They take advantage of you and your family," Serwan said about the smugglers. "Many bad things happen between smugglers and asylum seekers - mugging, raping, killing as well. But there's no other way. There's no option."
