Migrant Voice - MV members speak to The Guardian about TOEIC injustice

On February 9, Amelia Gentleman from The Guardian spoke to two Migrant Voice members – Shana Shaikh and Jakir Hussan – about the TOEIC injustice following an investigation by BBC Newsnight, which found the Home Office used flawed evidence to deport thousands of students based on allegations of cheating on an English language test.

"I have been mentally destroyed by this accusation," Shana told the publication. "I’m not able to get on with the rest of my life. I invested thousands of pounds to pay for a good education from this country."

Jakir told The Guardian: "I came here with ambitions and dreams but my future has been destroyed.

"Some relatives in my home country think that I did cheat; I feel ashamed and I lost ties with them. The most important thing for me is to clear my name so I can show my face to them."
