On 28 March, the UK-based World News TV reported on an exhibition at Ikon Gallery, featuring seventeen portraits of Migrant Voice members taken by the renowned photographer Vanley Burke. The exhibition is a collaboration between Ikon Gallery, Migrant Voice and Birmingham University.
The article included quotes from Migrant Voice director Nazek Ramadan.
“We know how important it is for us to tell our own stories and this is why we set up to speak for ourselves, but also photos are a brilliant tool to tell a story so it really enables us, gave us the opportunity to tell more of our stories," Nazek told the publication.
"For those of us living in Birmingham this is our city, our home."
The A Gift to Birmingham exhibition will run until 3 April and is free to attend.
The showcase is in the Events Room on the second floor of Ikon Gallery, 1 Oozells St, Birmingham, B1 2HS. The gallery is open 11am-5pm Tuesday-Sunday.
